AUTUMNAL rhymes have won young poet Connor Stainthorpe £150 worth of books.
The seven-year-old wordsmith, from Kelfield, near Selby, was chosen from more than 500 entries in the Waterstone's Poet-Tree competition.
All entries, written on leaf-shaped paper and covering the seasonal topic of autumn, have been pasted on the High Ousegate shop's walls in the form of a tree for customers to read.
Connor has been given £50 worth of books for his personal reading. The remaining £100 will be spent on the library of Cawood School, where he is a pupil.
Tara Stephenson, a children's buyer at Waterstones, said: "The shop looks wonderful.
"We read every single poem we were sent, and judged that Connor's was the best one."
