AN exclusive website sales deal has been signed by York-based expatshopping.com with leading financial UK publisher, Financial Times Business.
It is the latest success for the rocketing six months old dotcom, which offers yearned-for supplies to the world's 13.5 million British expatriates of products like Bovril, HP Sauce and Yorkshire Tea.
And it means that expatshopping.com will be the exclusive provider of a range of 1,500 groceries on the publisher's brand new expatriate site, FTExpat.com
One conservative estimate is that the 14-month deal will generate about £1.5 million in extra revenue over the next year for expatshopping.com and the prospect of adding perhaps two more to the 13 already directly employed at its headquarters in Link Road, Osbaldwick.
Simon Aldrich, the York firm's marketing director, said the revenue calculation was based on the fact that he would now be able to access more easily the more than two million regular visitors to the FT.Com and related FTExpat.com sites.
He said: "To secure a media partner such as the FT is a great compliment. This partnership will bring both organisations a significant boost in revenue, better penetration into our market place, as well as a superb range of marketing opportunities."
The deal comes as expatshopping.com earns two places in the finals of in the Evening Press Business Awards - in the New Business of the Year and Innovative Use of New Technology categories, for which winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Merchant Adventurers' Hall, York, on November 30.
