I WAS aware from the Evening Press that First York Bus Company was proposing to increase the bus fares. Then I read it had second thoughts. Therefore I was surprised yesterday to find that the return fare from Strensall to Exhibition Square had increased from £1.45 to £1.80.
How can First York justify an increase of 24 per cent following an increase last April? I though that we were supposed to be encouraged to use public transport for environmental reasons.

...MAYBE part of the bus fare increase could be spent on ensuring less hassle for passengers by putting the bus number at the back of the bus, thereby saving the dash to the front to see where it is going. It is a dangerous process as I well know!
