HIS Bootham Crescent tenure was only brief but the announcement that Peter Swan's career is over was no less sad.
In his short stint, Swan helped marshal City away from the threat of the relegation mire last season and was rewarded with the captain's armband for this.
Dubbed 'everyone's best mate' by Soccer AM, the respect Swan had among his fellow professionals was clearly evident.
After the final whistle had been blown there was nearly always a knock at the changing room door from a member of the opposition just looking for 'a quick natter with the big man'.
Swanny knew everyone and everyone knew Swanny and no-one had a bad word to say about him.
The Evening Press wishes Peter all the best for the future but such is his standing in the game it surely won't be too long before he is cutting his teeth in football management.
