The John Smith's Sunday Morning League programme was decimated by flooding but a handful of brave clubs managed to fulfil their fixtures.

Derwent United Reserves travelled from flood-hit Malton to Thorpe United who won 6-4 to maintain their 100% record in division four.

Scorers for Derwent United Reserves were Willie (2), Bell and Robinson.

In division two, Carlton and Jubilee both claimed their first point of the season when they drew 2-2 in a scrappy encounter.

Edmundson gave Carlton the lead when he beat off the challenge of three defenders before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home. Shaun Turner equalised for Jubilee who went ahead with a Doswell header from a corner midway through the second half only for Edmundson to rifle the equaliser five minutes later.

Derwent Arms chalked up their third win of the season when they beat FC Magnet 3-2. Anthony Luck, Steven Dagnall and James Luck scored for Derwent with Darren and Martyn Fairburn replying for Magnet.

In the only division three game, Fulford WMC beat Nestl Flag 6-5 with goals by Gomm (2), Sutton (2), Bell and Nelson. Stamp and O'Donnell each scored twice for Flag with O'Connell getting the other.

York Nomads hit top form with a 9-1 hammering of Haxby Lions in division five. Crosby and Hurst both hit hat-tricks, Dunn scored twice and Kilgour scored the other for Nomads with Lions' consolation from Taylor.

Wayne Pink (2), Dan Lindsey and Garry Scott scored for Black Bull as they won 4-2 at Zafs for whom Jones and Carter netted.

Shape Shop progressed in the John Smith's Mecca Trophy second round with a 6-4 victory over Knavesmire thanks to goals by Anderson (2), Shepherdson, Goddard, Craggs and an own goal. Jackson, Main, James and Burnett replied for Knavesmire.

* A combination of the York FA Sunday Afternoon Cup quarter-finals and flooded pitches on Knavesmire resulted in only one York Sunday Afternoon League game taking place on Sunday.

It involved Central Science Laboratory who were beaten 4-2 by Haxby United Reserves in the third division.

* The monthly league meeting will be held at the Civil Service Club, Boroughbridge Road, Acomb, on Monday (8pm).
