Councillors are taking to the streets of York in a ground-breaking examination of City of York Council's complaints procedures.
The council's newly-formed scrutiny management committee has agreed to put the council's complaints procedures in the spotlight.
And members will be going to the public in an effort to hear as many people's opinions as they can. Starting tomorrow in St Sampson's Square, the members will be touring the city in the authority's mobile information unit.
They will be asking how customers feel about the way City of York Council handles complaints.
Committee chairman John Galvin said: "This is very important. If residents are coming into the town, we are going to be there and we want to hear from them. Unless we know and we can collate what complaints people have, we can't do anything about them."
Rosalind Gray, the council's scrutiny manager, said: "We will be asking if the process was easy to understand, if timescales were acceptable, if staff were helpful and whether our customers were happy with the way their complaint was dealt with."
The mobile unit will be at St Sampson's Square tomorrow between 11am and 4pm, Monks Cross car park between 4pm and 7pm on November 23 and at the Askham Bar branch of Tesco's between 4pm and 7pm on November 30.
