I am shocked to see that English Heritage and the cyclists organisation, and to some extent Prof Nuttgens, are reported to be backing the city shops planned at Coppergate II.
Have English Heritage taken into account the effect on the city as a whole before making this decision?
I doubt it.
Along with many Evening Press readers, as witnessed in these very columns, I believe building next to Clifford's Tower is quite unworthy of this city.
It will be a drag on existing shops in York.
