York and District Over-60s 'B' team had to travel to Swinton, Manchester, to play in their second round game of the Over-60s Inter Club Double Rink championship and enjoyed an excellent win.
The York four of Alwyn Johnson, Alwyn Redhead, Norman Vause and Alan Storey were always in command and won comfortably 28-14.
However, it was a different story for the other rink of Gordon Pygott, John Berridge, Derek Stokoe and Ken Hutson.
They had a slight edge on their opponents after taking a five-shot lead from the first end, but going into the last the teams were all-square at 20-20 and a single gave the home side a narrow win.
York 'B' team now play away to Darlington on Friday, December 1. York's 'A' team were due to play Blackpool Borough at home but were given the game when their opponents could not raise a team.
The 'A' team are away to the winners of the Selby 'A' and Ryedale tie.
New Earswick had a good win in the competition against Barnsley at Huntington Road.
Eric Ward, Barry Johnson, Ken Lippett and John Allan took the initiative on the fourth end and never looked back, gaining an excellent 26-11 victory.
Bob Edwards, Bob Howland, Barry Harrison and Dave Clayton had a closer game against ex-Yorkshire president Roger Fitzgerald's rink.
With two ends to go Edwards' rink had a two-shot advantage but a two and a one gave the visitors a one-shot victory.
