Our campaign for a Women At War memorial marches ever closer to total victory. Culture Secretary Chris Smith announced today that the statue of Sir Walter Raleigh is to be moved from outside the Ministry of Defence, freeing up space for the new monument.
Mr Smith also paid a deserved tribute to Major David Robertson and former Ack Ack girls Mildred Beal and Edna Storr who have taken the campaign from North Yorkshire to Whitehall.
As the debate about whether to replace some older London statues continues, we are confident the Women At War memorial will enjoy the support of the entire nation.
