Asda has been forced to recall a children's coat after it was found the buttons could easily break in a child's hands.
A huge sign adorns the front of the York Asda store promising a full refund of £12.99 for the coat, which is from the Asda George fashion range.
A spokeswoman for Asda denied recalling the coat was because of safety fears, saying that it was actually due to a "quality fault" on the small pearl buttons. She said the problem was discovered by Asda itself and that there had been no complaints from customers.
"We advertised nationally to ask people to bring the coats back. We had no complaints but we found that the small pearl buttons on the front of the coat could break quite easily."
