A hugely popular Malton landlord is retiring this week - and will leave local charities almost £7,000 better off when he goes.
Norman Frank and his wife, Valerie, have been in charge at the Cross Keys, Wheelgate, since 1993.
In that time they have not only served thousands of pints, but raised thousands of pounds, most of which have been donated to Malton Hospital.
The cash was raised through sponsored events, organised by Norman and his regulars, who he describes as "lovely people, the best".
They will now retire to a bungalow in Eaglescliffe, Cleveland, where Norman said he is looking forward to a rest.
He said: "I have been asked what I am going to do with myself. The first thing is sleep for about a month. I have had a great time being landlord here, I've enjoyed every second of it, but it is very hard work and I need a break to be honest."
Norman, 62, went on to say that while he won't miss the long hours, he will definitely miss the social side of pub life.
