Dringhouses reached the fourth round of the York FA Saturday Senior Cup but only after a roller-coaster ten-goal thriller against Rufforth.
They won 6-4 but must have thought their task would be far easier as they led 4-0 at half-time.
A goal from Alan Goodrick, two strikes by Ian Proctor - including a 25-yarder - and a John Lake effort looked to have put Dringhouses firmly in control.
However, early in the second half Paul Moss and John Hayes reduced the arrears before an own goal gave Dringhouses a three-goal advantage.
Moss netted again to lift Rufforth, but Gary Kitson then cracked a 25-yard shot against the bar and Graham Mitchell acted first to net Dringhouses' sixth.
Moss completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot but Rufforth failed to close the gap in a tie well refereed by Julian Lane.
The floods claimed around half of the York FA Cup ties, and in the only other Senior Cup game Pocklington progressed but needed extra-time to beat New Earswick 4-3.
Pock built a two-goal lead with Rich Millett twice on target, but New Earswick hit back with two opportunist goals from Phil Hart.
That forced extra-time, but Pocklington restored their two goal advantage in the first period with Millett completing his hat-trick and Michael Murr bagged their fourth.
Andy Snell notched a late goal for New Earswick, but Pocklington held on for victory and a place in the semi-finals.
In the Saturday Junior FA Cup Rawcliffe, of division three, progressed to the semis with a 4-1 triumph over second division Heworth.
Bill Allan opened the scoring for Rawcliffe with Dale Phillips adding a second, but Heworth reduced the arrears before half-time.
Paul Beddingham headed in on 55 minutes, after good work by Michael Fox, and Allen sealed victory with his second goal with ten minutes remaining.
In a physical encounter Easingwold were beaten 2-1 by Stamford Bridge.
Easingwold took the lead when Mick Raper netted from close range, but by the interval Bridge had drawn level when a Rich Hunter header looped over the home side's goalkeeper.
The winner came on 65 minutes when a long throw was flicked on for Mike Carpenter to net at the far post.
The first 70 minutes of the Saturday Reserve FA Cup clash between Civil Service and Dunnington failed to produce a goal, but the deadlock was broken when Service's Ian Pickard netted from the penalty spot.
However, with ten minutes remaining, a Paul Downing header brought the scores level.
It seemed extra-time would be needed but Pickard added a second goal from the penalty spot to secure a 2-1 victory for Service.
At Heslington Rob Cockerill put the home team into an early lead against his former club Easingwold Town, but he was to end up on the losing side.
By half-time the visitors had a 2-1 advantage following an own goal and a Chris Hughes strike.
Heslington drew level after the interval with a goal from Ray Meehan, but the winner came ten minutes from time when James Dickens ran onto a through ball to give Easingwold a 3-2 success.
Rufforth progressed into the next round with a comfortable 6-1 win over Heworth - Rob Sanderson led the way with a hat-trick.
In their Sunday Senior FA Cup tie Wigginton built a three goal half-time advantage at York Hotel but only went through 3-2.
Goals from Simon Fisher, Mark Pemberton and Gavin Dickinson, put them in front, but in the second half the division two side hit back with Tim Jackson cracking in a 30 yard free-kick and then netting from the penalty spot.
Severus WMC gave a much improved performance as they outclassed Fulford Bay 3-0 - Joe Depa, Dean James and Andy Barkway were their scorers.
Yorkshire Herald trailed before defeating New Earswick 3-1.
New Earswick led at half-time, thanks to a scrambled goal from Pat Kelly, but in the second half Herald took control with three excellent goals, a long range shot from Darren Johnson plus two goals from the edge of the penalty area from John Alcock.
Acomb WMC proved far too strong for Copmanthorpe winning 7-2.
Steve Stone (2), Steve Cross (2), Mark Hirst, Carl Young and Pat Bedford netted for Acomb, while John Langley and Richard Appleton were Copmanthorpe's scorers.
Beeswing progressed to the fourth round of the Sunday Junior FA Cup defeating a sluggish Pocklington 3-1.
Beeswing surged into a three goal lead with strikes from Gary Newbold, Scott Pickard and a tremendous individual goal by John Grayson, while Pocklington replied from the penalty spot through Robert Gibson.
St Clements led at half-time against Acomb SC but lost 2-1.
Acomb fought back strongly in the second half with Scott Nichols netting a 20-yard shot after 55 minutes and five minutes later Andrew Tute scored the winner from the penalty spot.
In the Sunday Afternoon FA Cup Nestl went down 3-1 at home to York Nomads 85 as all the goals came in the first half.
Garett Gavin put the Nomads into an early lead with a shot from an acute angle and Steven Jefferson made it two with a spot kick, before an own goal put Nestl back into the tie.
Then Jefferson added his second to ensure victory for Nomads.
Drax went through shading their clash with Cross Keys 2-1.
Drax took the lead when Damion Bowers chipped the keeper on the half hour, but by half-time Cross Keys were on level terms with a deflected shot.
With 20 minutes remaining a superb through ball by Kevin Bidle put in Bowers for his second and the match-winning goal, but Drax were indebted to goalkeeper Rob Cole for some late heroics to deny Keys.
