Council workers stand united after working round-the-clock to fill more than 200,000 sandbags to save the Selby area from flooding.
A vital 24-hour operation has been taking place at the county council depot in Selby, with more than 160 workers, including miners, refuse collectors and volunteers, helping out.
The sandbags have been transported by council trucks and Army Chinook helicopters to the bloated banks of the Ouse, Aire, Wharfe and Derwent rivers. The chairman of North Yorkshire County Council, Roy Wilson, said: "The floods have brought out a spirit in people that we've previously not winessed. I'm extremely proud of all our staff."
