There was a double disappointment for City of York ladies in the North League as they went down 4-0 at Blackburn and were then beaten 4-1 in a re-arranged game at Ben Rhydding.
Against the Lancastrians City started brightly enough and were on top for 25 minutes, but then disaster struck as a defensive error presented Blackburn with their opening goal.
The home side added a second goal early in the second half and City could not get back on terms and conceded two further goals late in the contest.
The pattern was similar in Ilkley with City bossing the match only to gift their rivals the lead.
Ben Rhydding then added a second before the interval and a third early in the second period, but City hit back through Karen Howell's, who converted a penalty flick five minutes from time.
However, Ben Rhydding had the last word scored with virtually the last shot of the match.
Captain Kerry Rafton put Acomb on course for victory as they notched a 3-1 win at home to Bedale in division one of the Yorkshire Women's League.
Early Acomb pressure had seen a number of chances missed but when a strike from a short corner was illegally stopped on the goal-line, Rafton fired her side in front from the resultant penalty flick.
Bedale hit back and it took good defensive work by Vicky Burden and some fine saves from goalkeeper Kirsty Cooper to keep them out.
Acomb increased their lead when another strike following a short corner was initially blocked but Vicky Winters was on hand to sweep in the loose ball.
In the second half the same player added the third, but Bedale rallied and managed to grab a late consolation goal.
In division two City of York II were forced to concede their match against Huddersfield side Zeneca as they were unable to provide an umpire.
With only ten players Tadcaster were always going to be up against it as they took on Chapeltown away in division four.
Tadcaster repelled the Sheffield side's earlier attacks but three goals just before half-time eased the home side's frustrations.
It left Tadcaster a mountain to climb after the interval but to their credit they tried to make a contest of it and did well to concede only one more in the last 35 minutes.
