UP to 1,500 people are expected to pack York's Barbican Centre for the ideal start to Christmas - an afternoon of unrestrained festive cheer at the city's annual community carol concert.
This year's event will be the 43rd annual carol concert and the tenth to be held at the Barbican Centre, with all the proceeds going to charity.
From the last nine concerts, a total of £21,250 has been donated to nine local charities. This year, the main beneficiaries will be the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of York's Christmas Cheer Fund and the Evening Press St Leonard's Hospice Appeal.
Performing will be St Mary's Parish Church Choir, Haxby, Manor CE School Wind Band, St George's RC Primary School Choir and the York Light Opera Society. Once again, the master of ceremonies will be the Rev Andrew Foster, and the musical director will be John Warburton.
The concert takes place on Sunday, December 10, at 2.30pm, and admission is £4.
To book tickets, ring the box office on 01904 656688, which is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 8pm and Saturdays from 10am to 5pm.
