At last the Government appears to be listening to long-voiced concerns about the notorious stretch of the A64 at Golden Hill. Roads Minister Lord Whitty confirmed the closure of the 'crawler' lane which has seen several fatal accidents in recent years, the most recent being just last week.
Importantly, Lord Whitty also said that the Government was 'looking at' the feasibility of improving safety along the A64 from Whitwell to Malton. Just looking won't be enough - action is what's needed, and the sooner the better.
