The view of the 18th green at Fulford golf course, reflected in the flood waters, sums up the trials and tribulations of golfers around the region.
Few courses have been able to open due to flooding and water-logging, with Allerthorpe Park, with its sand base, one of the few battling to allow players a chance to get in a round.
However, the intrepid golfers at Pocklington's Kilnwick Percy club managed to beat the elements to play their October Stableford.
It was little fun for all but the leaders.
Mike Johnson, back from representing the club in Ireland with partner Les Clarkson, won with a superb 40 points, while Alan Howson was in second place on countback from Norman Turton on 34 points.
The Midweek Stableford saw Ben Donkin win from Chris Gunby with a better back nine, both scoring 37 points.
