More homes have been flooded in Malton and Norton as the River Derwent today peaked at its highest recorded level.
The Environment Agency said the river peaked at 16ft 5in early today and was still rising.
Residents and emergency workers spent much of the night putting sandbags in place at homes in Riverside Walk in Malton, but water seeped through the floorboards.
The number of properties flooded across Ryedale yesterday was thought to be about 250, but after this morning's flooding that number has risen slightly.
A spokesman for the Ryedale emergency control room said: "Residents in Riverside Walk have not been evacuated from their homes but council workers have helped them move their possessions upstairs."
PA weather forecasters said around a third of an inch of rain was expected tomorrow night through into Saturday morning.
Chief Supt Gary Barnett, of York Police, said although York city centre was getting back to normal today, the level of the Ouse could return to 16ft 3in on Sunday.
A Norton couple are refusing to leave their flooded home because they don't want to abandon their cats.
The elderly couple, who live in Derwent Terrace are being monitored by emergency workers.
