After 17 years Tullivers herbs, health foods and wholefoods is moving from a tiny two-room shop in Goodramgate, York, to premises three times as big in nearby Colliergate.
Helen Spath, who started Tullivers, and her business partner Dave Weston, finally came to the conclusion that the Goodramgate shop with its 282 sq ft of sales area was too small for the two permanent and four part-time staff.
"It was just about big enough to swing a Manx cat, but not one with a tail," said Helen.
The shop's new home on the corner of Kings Square was formerly Mitchells Sports and has been empty for months.
Helen said: "We have tried to notify all our customers and in the process discovered how most of them literally went out of their way to get their specialist foods and welcome the change.
"Now we will be a lot more central - a crossing point to a lot of places in the city, including those who use Park and Ride services, taxi ranks, Marks and Spencer or Newgate Market."
