Harrogate Town have to stop shooting themselves in the foot if they are to progress in the FA Umbro Trophy or up the UniBond League division one table.

That is the view of manager Mick Hennigan, who watched his side fight back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to earn a 3-3 draw at home to Witton Albion in the first round of the Trophy on Saturday.

They travel the other way to Cheshire tonight for the replay (kick-off 7.45pm), with Hennigan demanding his team "stop making it hard for themselves".

After watching his side concede 15 goals in their last three matches, he said: "We give away too many goals, that's clear to see. They're a good set of lads and are trying their best but they've got this great ability to shoot themselves in the foot. Everything is always an uphill battle.

"If we can stop giving ourselves these self-inflicted wounds, we might have a chance of getting good results."

He added that he would not pick his squad or line-up for tonight's clash until he could confirm who was available. "We will be happy to have the right number of people and we will pick the team from who gets there."

Town had been scheduled to visit Glasshoughton Welfare for a West Riding County Cup first round tie tonight, but with the Trophy taking precedence, that match has now been put back to next Tuesday, November 14 (7.30pm).

The club, meanwhile, are set to make a statement tomorrow regarding the reported arrival at the club of John Reed, who quit as manager of Goole on Saturday
