A North Yorkshire landlord has shown huge generosity in the face of a crisis, by opening his doors to flooded out Ryedale residents - for free.
Jarred Fisher, of the Blue Bell pub in Weaverthorpe, near Malton, said he wanted to make a goodwill gesture to anyone needing emergency accommodation.
So he has offered flooded out residents the use of one of six en-suite letting rooms, complete with colour TV and breakfast on the house.
Jarred, 32, said: "The idea came to me earlier in the week. The weather was terrible and at first I was worrying that I wouldn't be able to get the bonfire lit.
"Then, I thought that isn't exactly a lot to be worrying about when there are people who are flooded out of their homes for the second time in under two years. I wanted to help and this seemed like the best way to do it."
Jarred said he and his wife were on standby for the arrival of flooded-out guests, after another severe weather warning was issued for the weekend.
Ryedale District Council spokesman John Atkinson said Jarred's offer demonstrated "true Yorkshire spirit and generosity."
He added: "Mr Fisher is not the only one though. We have been contacted by numerous generous people offering emergency accommodation, which really is excellent news in the middle of this difficult time."
Anyone who needs help with accommodation should contact the district council's floodline on 01653 600666.
