Three successive 10-0 wins for T&L puts the defending League champions back in the limelight, ousting SWMC from the top slot of the Selby and District Table Tennis League.

First Eggborough Kestrels, and now Thorpe B and West Cowick, could find no answer to the power displayed by Andrew Kirk, Mick Wilcockson and Nigel Thorn.

SWMC beat Eggborough Kestrels 6-4, but Mal Machin had a brilliant night for the visitors, leaving the match unbeaten.

Mike Hanley beat Bernard Wales for their fourth point, but it was Wales who came closest to stopping Machin's run, only losing 9-21:21-17:19-21.

For SWMC, Wales took one point against John Halliday, with Roger Ellis and Chris White beating Halliday and Hanley.

White just defeated Hanley on deuce in the third.

In a later match, SWMC went down 7-3 to Thorpe A.

Chris Godwin substituted for Thorpe's No.1., Craig Smith, still suffering from a back problem. And like his team-mates, Bruce Parker and Chris Harris, came away with two good points. Including a nail-biting 17-21:22-20:23-21 against Roger Ellis.

His other victim was John Senior. Bernard Wales was SWMC's most successful player, beating Godwin and Harris.

Ellis took the third point against Parker, and Thorpe won the doubles.

Eggborough Ospreys beat newly promoted West Cowick 10-0, with Jim Robe, Peter Harpham and substitute Keith Webster taking the points.

Meanwhile, Eggborough Eagles knocked Womersley off the top of division two, with an 8-2 scoreline over Thorpe D.

Ian Richardson was unbeaten, John Stokes and John Hills collected two points each, both losing to Richard Morris.
