SIMON Dyson is just two shots off the lead at the halfway stage of the Hero Honda Masters in New Delhi.
The Malton and Norton professional ended the first day in ninth place after a two under par 70.
But yesterday he shot a second round 67 to move into joint sixth place on seven under.
Defending champion Jyoti Randhawa, of India, shot a stunning round of eight-under 64 to come back from the dead, but was still overshadowed by Rodrigo Cuello, of the Philippines, who set ablaze the Arnold Palmer-designed DLF Golf & Country Club with a course record nine-under 63.
At the halfway stage, Cuello led the tournament at nine-under, followed by Randhawa, South African Hendrik Buhrmann, Arjun Atwal and overnight leader Scott Kammann of the United States at eight-under 136.
Dyson, runner-up in the Lexus International in Thailand earlier this week, is currently second in the Asian PGA Davidoff Tour Order of Merit.
Meanwhile, the Bob Alton Trophy, competed annually at Malton and Norton, saw John Lucas hole in one on the 164 yards fourth hole using a five wood.
Remarkably, on the same day, although not in the competition, Eric Dronsfield holed his tee shot at the 155 yards 13th using a six iron.
It was the first ace for both men.
