The Flat turf season draws to a close at Doncaster tomorrow with the Tote Scoop6 November Stakes (Showcase Handicap) taking its traditional place as the final centrepiece.

The £30,000 event could well produce a turn-up on the soft ground and Batswing is napped to clinch the honours for Norton trainer Brian Ellison.

The five-year-old, who will be ridden by Robert Winston, finished second over hurdles at Kelso on his latest start and had previously occupied the same position in a competitive Flat handicap race at Epsom.

At home in the mud, Batswing has plenty going for him in this popular betting medium.

Of the others, Flossy, bidding to give Middleham trainer Chris Thornton a wonderful send-off before he departs Spigot Lodge for a smaller yard in the town, has been in excellent form of late.

She promises to make a bold bid to gain back-to-back successes, but at odds of around 3-1 is hardly any value.

Seren Hill, the mount of Kevin Darley, is another in great heart, having won his last two outings, while top-weight Thari, trained by Ben Hanbury, are also in with a big shout.

But, in what promises to be a cracking contest, Batswing carries the number one vote to bring this prize back to Ryedale.

In the B.O.C. Sureflow Nursery, Dominaite should give a good account himself under Richard Quinn, who has ridden this gelding in his recent races.

The Mick Easterby-trained juvenile has proved a model of consistency this season and ran right up to form when third on this course recently.

Mubtaker should be hard to beat in the CIU Serlby Stakes.

Willie Supple's mount trotted-up on heavy ground at Newbury last time and, as that was only his second outing, he is open to significant further improvement.

He can oblige again in this Listed race, which carries a £21,000 prize.

It would be fitting for Sheriff Hutton-based Kevin Darley, the newly-crowned champion jockey, to win the final race of the season, and he could well achieve it aboard Andreyev in the Charles Sidney Mercedes Benz Wentworth Stakes.

A proven mudlover, Andreyev, trained by Richard Hannon, started the season with a win here at the Lincoln meeting.

This tough campaigner remains in tip-top form judged by his latest effort at Newmarket where he beat all except Bahamian Pirate in a Listed race. He can provide Darley with a wonderful end to a wonderful year.

No sooner will the meeting end than Darley will be Heathrow-bound for a flight to Australia, where he rides the Martin Pipe-trained Far Cry in Tuesday's Melbourne Cup.
