Congratulations to Adam Sinclair for having the guts to say what most people are thinking about the Coppergate II development (October 27). While I believe he represents what remains of independent business in York - of which it is unlikely there will be any in Coppergate II - he is at least contemplating development including some retail space.

This city must prevent this large scale proposal from simply being rubber-stamped without regard to its long-term interests and without full and open disclosure of the financial dealings concerning the land around Clifford's Tower.

...I READ with interest the article you published on the Clifford's Tower area development and the grass park area shown brilliantly in the montage photograph which is the idea of the campaign group York Tomorrow (October 25).

The argument put forward by York Tomorrow and the article you also featured by Jonathan Tyler about the use of Clifford's Tower car park and the under-use of other nearby car parks, shows us all that there is a viable and acceptable alternative to the massive development suggested by Land Securities.
