York Wasps' search for a main club sponsor for the forthcoming Northern Ford Premiership season is finally over.
Stabler Linings, owned by former chairman John Stabler, have agreed a one-season deal which will see their name emblazoned on the new-look shirts.
The company have declined to release details of the sponsorship but Wasps chief executive Ann Garvey said: "It is an excellent deal."
Stabler, now a director at Hull FC, has been a major sponsor and shareholder of the Wasps over the years.
He and former vice-chairman Russell Greenfield recently came up with a rescue package when York were facing a winding-up order from the Inland Revenue.
Although their commitments to Hull meant they were unable to take up an active role with York, Stabler remains a staunch supporter of the Wasps.
He is the major shareholder and managing director of Leeds based company John Stabler Textiles, one of the biggest providers of lining for clothes in Europe.
The firm will go by the name of Stabler Linings for the purpose of the shirt sponsorship.
Garvey said: "John thinks a lot about the York club. He knew my desire to have a name on the shirts this season, particularly as we have got a new strip.
"Because we're starting with a new strip, a relatively new board, relatively new team and a new coach I didn't want the shirts to go out without a name on it."
Details of the new strip have not yet been revealed and a launch is expected before the start of the season on December 3.
Garvey is also in talks with an "up and coming company" about a secondary sponsorship.
"They would put a substantial amount of money in and would get plenty of advertising. They would probably get their names on the trainers and physio shirts," she explained, adding that it was not a local firm.
In addition, other sponsorships - hospitality boxes, match and match ball sponsors - have been going well although some deals are still available, particularly player sponsors.
