A young York Acorn Ladies side defied their inexperience to record a stunning 12-4 win at Thornhill.
The team gelled together superbly with many of the players producing their best form of the season to date.
The game was won and lost in defence with Acorn tackling their Dewsbury counterparts to a standstill, thanks to excellent performances from Natasha Armitage, Amy Littlefair, makeshift stand-off April Welch and full-back Chantel Markham.
In attack Acorn were well-served by the probing runs of player of the match Jenny Garwood and Claire Chapman, with the latter scorching in for the match-winning try.
Acorn's other points came from a try by Gill Blackburn and two Liza Miller goals.
Acorn Ladies are on the look-out for a new coach as well as new players.
Anyone interested should attend either Wednesday or Friday training sessions at the Thanet Road ground (6.45pm) or contact Gill Blackburn on 01904 795874.
