There were ghostly goings-on when O'Brien's Sandwich Bar in York was "possessed" by a Hallowe'en theme.
The Low Ousegate shop was selling a hot and spicy Try It If You Dare sandwich of the day and a Chocolate Horror dessert yesterday, while staff got into the "spirit" of the occasion in fancy dress.
It was all in a good cause, with 20p for every sandwich sold on the day donated to our Hospice 2000 Appeal.
But the fun doesn't stop there, as they will also be celebrating Bonfire Night on Saturday with another speciality sandwich, a Guy Fawkes, and the famous "human sandwich" which is, as franchisee, David Ball explained, "two six-foot guys between two slices of bread.
"We are going to have a bit of fun and raise some funds for the Hospice Appeal through the sales, but also with competitions and collecting buckets."
O'Brien's is part of a world-wide chain of sandwich bars and opened in the city in June. You can give your "sandwich support" to the Hospice on Saturday from 8am to 5pm.
