Lee Appleton, elder sister of All Saints pop pin-ups Nicole and Natalie, was in York tonight appearing in Ben Elton's comedy thriller Popcorn at the Grand Opera House.
Lee plays the glamorous Farrah, a wannabe actress caught up in the maelstrom of a brace of serial killers occupying the home of Hollywood movie director Bruce Delamitri.
"The character I play is kind of neurotic, a fruit loop, not at all like me," says Lee, in an accent that has been turned American by ten years of living in the United States.
She stopped performing in 1993 for "family reasons" when living in New York, but following her divorce, she returned to England four months ago and her career has taken off once more. "What's brought me back to the stage? Divorce. I'm so thankful to have this opportunity I can't tell you," says Lee, who has been on the road with the ITF Productions company since September 28 in her British stage debut.
