TWO Tadcaster Grammar School pupils will be heading for Rugby next February to compete in the final of the British Schools Modern Biathlon championship.
Lauren Mason and Joanna Feasby qualified for the national showdown in style from the northern region finals held at Clay Cross, near Chesterfield.
Year eight student Mason will go to the finals with high hopes after taking gold in the northern qualifier.
Mason was lying third after the swimming leg of the event, but produced a very strong showing in the cross country and finished well ahead on points to take first place.
Feasby, who like Mason is a year eight pupil and a member of the York City Baths Club, impressed in the swimming and gained the award for finishing first in the swimming - clocking a personal best time into the bargain.
However, she was unable to maintain her lead after the cross-country but still qualified comfortably for the nationals with fourth place overall.
