THERE was joy for York's under-11s side in the inter-association football programme as they scored a 4-1 win at Hull.

In a clash that counted towards both league and cup competitions the York side showed a cutting edge away from home and were quickly into their stride when Scott Nicols put them ahead with a shot high into the net following a corner.

Dale Hunt then extended their lead as his pace twice exposed the Hull defence's frailties and he duly bagged two impressive solo goals. Carl Stewart rounded off the York tally with a well placed shot from the edge of the box before Hull managed to force a late consolation goal from a corner.

However, there was little luck elsewhere as York's under-15s had to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Humbersiders and the under-14s and under-13s, both facing Hull, slipped to 1-0 and 6-4 defeats respectively.

THE Yappers Cup U12 Indoor five-a-side qualifying competition for the ESFA Wagon Wheels Competition starts this month.

The finals will be at Millthorpe School on Tuesday, November 28 (4pm), starting with the winners of the West Group against the West Group runners-up. At 4.13 pm the East Group winners take on that section's runners-up, at 4.26pm West runners-up v East winners; 4.39pm East runners-up v West winner, 4.52pm West runners-up v East runners-up, and 5.05pm East winner v West winner.

The qualifying matches will be played at Lowfield and Joseph Rowntree schools on Thursday, November 23.

Primary League Tables are up to date with the exception of Primary B where some schools have still not sent in any results.

St Peter's School, one of the big guns in schools rugby union, will enter the national Under 18 Daily Mail Cup with a tough away draw against Hall Cross School, of Doncaster.

The York school's first XV were given a bye until the third round of the premier schools competition along with a number of other strong rugby-playing sides, including Durham School and Manchester Grammar.

Now they must prove their pedigree by beginning their campaign against the Doncaster comprehensive boys, who thrashed Manor School, Mansfield, 40-19 at home in the second round.

Ripon Grammar School, meanwhile, must travel to the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle, in the Under 18 competition.

The St Peter's Under-15 side will have a third round home tie against Yarm School if they can overcome Scarborough College away in their second round tie.

Harrogate Grammar School have a home tie against Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Penrith, in the Under 15 tournament.
