North Yorkshire featherweight fighting sensation Paul Ingle can become the new superstar of world boxing.
That is the view of manager Frank Maloney, who believes 'The Yorkshire Hunter' is set to shine in front of a worldwide television audience when he makes the second defence of his IBF world title on December 16.
Ingle defends his featherweight crown against dangerous South African Mbulelo Botile in a boxing extravaganza at the Sheffield Arena, taking joint-top billing on the Frank Warren-promoted programme which, for the first time ever in Europe, features five world title bouts.
And, with his massive following able to make the trip from Scarborough to support him, the 5ft 5in fighter can be the star of the show and, says Maloney, take the world by storm.
The 28-year-old has a golden chance to win over American boxing fans, as the Sports Network show - named The Full Monty 2 - will be broadcast on the other side of the Atlantic by US television network giant Showtime. And if he performs in front of fight fans Stateside, his status across the globe will be hugely boosted.
Maloney said: "I believe Ingle will be the new superstar of British and world boxing.
"Providing he puts on a flawless performance and deals with Botile in style, after this fight he will be ready to take on any featherweight or super-featherweight in the world. And that includes Acelino Freitas (who is scheduled to defend his WBO super-featherweight crown in the same show).
"In the quest to become a 'great' you can't refuse to fight anyone and Ingle wants to be known as a 'great'."
The December 16 fight night also includes the eagerly awaited WBO world super-middleweight title bout between British rivals Joe Calzaghe and Richie Wood as well as the WBO world welterweight championship fight between Daniel Santos and Neil Sinclair and the WBO world bantamweight bout featuring Mauricio Martinez and Esham Pickering.
