Graham Foster-Vigors, of Moorcroft Road, Woodthorpe, York, has finished 11th in the Rotax Max National Kart Championship.
The Rotax Max South Yorkshire Kart Club Champion had a year of ups and downs which included an engine failure in one round and a nasty accident in September.
He arrived at Fulbeck, Lincolnshire, for the NKRA national finals and had to build up a new kart with HRS Motorsport to compete in the final.
He was third in his first heat, followed by ninth and 11th in the next two.
Starting on grid 12 for the final, Foster-Vigors, was hoping for a place in the top 15 to be seeded for next year.
After a frantic 12 laps he finished 11th and after all the other heat scores were added together, he finished 11th in the British Championship.
Next year the championship is increasing its profile with regular television coverage both on Sky and terrestrial TV.
