YOUNGSTERS with learning difficulties are vulnerable and the York charity SNAPPY does much good and vital work to make their lives as rich as possible.
Yet all the efforts will be wasted if the money cannot be found to replace lost grants. The struggling charity has this weekend closed two projects for young people, in spite of last-ditch attempts to raise funds, and meets tonight for its AGM in a mood of despondency.
City of York Council has promised £30,000 - but only if SNAPPY can itself raise £30,000. Surely the work of this charity is far too important to be lost. If SNAPPY cannot generate the £30,000 in time, the council should think of other ways to support this charity.
