New Earswick All Blacks were disappointed to lose 14-10 at home to Castleford Panthers in a game they should have won.
It was another below-par performance from the All Blacks against a side who have now won four games in a row.
Panthers took the lead after five minutes when poor New Earswick tackling allowed scrum-half Adrian Fitzpatrick to score a try which Lee McNichol goaled.
More weak defence saw Andy Sims brush aside four tacklers and charge over from 30 yards for an unconverted try.
That made it 10-0 after 15 minutes but All Blacks hit back when Lee McTigue forced his way over after good work by Lee Paterson and Dave Carling added the conversion.
A penalty by McNichol gave Panthers a 12-6 half-time lead before All Blacks gave themselves real hope 20 minutes from time when 38-year-old prop Mick Storey went on a 20-yard run and beat three would-be tacklers to score.
However, Carling was unable to tag on the extras and the Panthers hung on, increasing their lead with another McNichol penalty.
Lee McTigue was All Blacks' man of the match, closely followed by Lee Paterson, Mick Storey and Jez Petch.
