Heworth slipped another place in the NCL first division with an 18-8 defeat at mid-table West Bowling.
The Villagers fancied their chances at the interval when they trailed just 10-6 but they were unable to overturn the deficit in the second half.
Bowling's Martin Tordoff was the star of the show as he claimed two tries. Mark Thorburn and Simon Owen also touched down with Sean Fallon managing just one goal.
Chris Hammerton worked hard for Heworth and kicked two goals with Gavin Grant scoring their only try.
The result leaves Heworth fourth from bottom but they will be able to put some space between themselves and the relegation zone when they entertain second bottom Waterhead next week.
