See More Business, the 1999 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, is the star attraction at Wetherby tomorrow on the first top-notch programme of the jumping season.
The Paul Nicholls-trained gelding will bid to repeat his success of 12 months ago in the £45,000 Peterhouse Group Charlie Hall Chase and promises to take all the beating.
Last year, See More Business was a worthy winner from Simply Dashing and Looks Like Trouble, who went on to take his revenge by winning this year's Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
That was the only defeat suffered last season by See More Business, twice a winner of the King George V1 Chase and likely to bid for a notable hat-trick at Kempton's Christmas meeting provided he comes through tomorrow's race with flying colours.
Peter Beaumont saddles a useful pair, Bobby Grant and Young Kenny, in opposition to the certain favourite, but I expect 'See More' to do the business once again.
Mick Fitzgerald, his jockey, looks poised to enjoy a lucrative afternoon. He also teams-up with Nicholls' useful pair Earthmover and Montifault, and he has a further winning chance on Mick Easterby's Snugfit Rosie, fit-from-the-Flat, who goes for the Tote Exacta Handicap Hurdle.
Earthmover has some smart opposition, including Wahiba Sands, in the John Smith's Hurdle, but is expected to win.
Montifault has only four rivals in the Arthur Stephenson Novices' Handicap Chase and is fancied to come out on top over Time Of Flight, the useful Mary Reveley runner.
On a card highlighted by three Grade 2 races, the first of them, the Stanley Racing Wensleydale Juvenile Novices' Hurdle, can fall to Spirit Of Park.
Len Lungo's charge has been most impressive in his two wins, at Perth and Kelso, and is fancied to have the edge over Martin Pipe's Belle D'Anjou, who is going for her sixth success off the reel.
Ascot stages a classy jumping programme with the United House Construction Handicap Chase taking pride of place.
Once again, Paul Nicholls has a strong hand, this time with recent winner Irbee, the mount of Joe Tizzard.
Patriarch, a useful bumper horse last season, should not be missed in the United House Development Novices' Hurdle. Also worth noting is the in-form One Nation (4.50).
The principal Flat action tomorrow is at Newmarket, where the wide-open £40,000 Ladbroke Autumn Handicap promises to provide Malton apprentice Paul Hanagan with his biggest success aboard the aptly-named Great News.
Trained by William Haggas, Great News has been in cracking form this autumn, rattling up a hat-trick of wins before just failing to hold Celebration Town at York last month. He is napped to get back on the winning trail.
Slumbering, who has taken on a new lease of life since joining Brian Pearce's yard, can complete a hat-trick by winning the Burrough Green Handicap.
