A man was taken to hospital today after suffering serious injuries in an accident on a North Yorkshire road.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said the man was taken to the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton with facial, leg and back injuries following the accident between a car and van on the A170 about a mile east of Thirsk.
North Yorkshire Police spokesman Tony Lidgate said five or six vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened shortly after 8am and blocked the road.
