Big game hunter Alan Fettis is gunning to stave off the attacks of the Tigers.
The City number one admits he is raring to go against his former club, Hull City, in tomorrow's eagerly awaited Bootham Crescent derby showdown.
"I had four and a half years at Hull and so there will always be a little bit close to my heart," he said.
"But at the end of the day I won't give a toss if we beat them.
"It is York City who I play for now and I hope that we win the game because I want the best for us."
It promises to be an international battle as the Northern Ireland keeper steps into the firing line against Hull's Jamaican World Cup star Theodore Whitmore and Trinidad and Tobago's Clint Marcelle.
Fettis believes City, buoyed by the midweek win over Halifax and last Saturday's draw with Leyton Orient, can welcome the Tigers with nothing to fear.
And he insists despite City currently languishing in 21st place a play-off place was still a reality.
"The win was very important for us. If we had lost points against Halifax it would have brought them up closer to us. It gives us a bit of breathing space between us and them.
"And I think for our sakes we needed a couple of good results to get our confidence back again.
"Hopefully it will allow us to relax a little bit more and be positive.
"It is only human to start looking over your shoulder when you are in the position we are in.
"But now we have got a couple of decent results and stopped the rot.
"It is up to us now. It is a big game on Saturday, a derby game, and if we can get something out of it we can really start looking forward again.
"In this division everyone can beat everybody.
"We have played seven of the top nine and I think we have competed well against most of them
"I think we can beat anybody on our day, we have got the basis of a very good team."
