St John's recorded a 7-2 win at Market Weighton in ladies division two of the York and District Badminton League.
Lindsay Spicer and Sarah Manger took all three for the student teachers for a total of 92-56, while Sue Aurston and Sue Smith took both home points, but lost seven and 12 to Spicer and Manger.
Huntington started the new season with an 8-1 away win over Knavesmire Ladies in division two. Bev Tebbutt and Angela Hobman took the best return of the evening with a straight games maximum for 90-15. Carol Bell and Janet Brookes took the home consolation with an eight and nine over Lindsay Jewison and Theresa Roberts-Hardy.
IT Sports opened their men's division one account with a 7-2 away win over Selby 77. Paul Blackett and Chris Swift combined well together to take three IT Sports wins for 90-31.
Rowntrees were pushed hard by Drax 'A' before recording a 7-2 win. Craig Dobson and Phil Grant topped the home averages with three wins for 100-60, while Dave Walsh and Phil Brunyard were rewarded for their efforts with a 15-8 12-15 15-6 over Rowntree's Mark Barker and Steve Andrew.
RI T/Thursday 'A' hit top men's division two form to record a 7-2 win at Millthorpe. Mark Thompson and Ian Sinker played well to score three Institute wins for a total of 96-56, including a 15-10 6-15 15-6 over Paul Elliott and Roger Martin who took both Millthorpe wins.
Huntington used home advantage to beat Tadcaster 86 7-2 in men's division three. The best rubber of the night saw Paul Moisley and Mark Tebbutt complete their maximum with a 15-13 13-15 15-13 over Andrew Cooper and Leon Young. Alan Ward and John Greenhalgh took both Tadcaster wins, but lost 15-13 13-15 2-15 to Moisley and Tebbutt.
Clifton 'A' played two home matches in mixed one, losing 9-0 to York RI and then beating Selby 77 'A' 8-1. The RI pairing of Andy and Bridget Denton returned 90-29 in the match against Clifton 'A'. Phil Sinto and Lorraine Ellis put in the best Clifton display against Selby 77 with a total of 90-28.
Newly promoted Selby Jubilee 'B' just lost out 5-4 at home to Market Weighton in mixed five. John Warburton and Sue Smith took the match winning maximum with three wins for 90-53, including an 11 and eight over Marion Woolforth and Pete Lund who recorded two Jubilee wins.
St John's proved too strong for Fulfordgate 'A' in mixed five, recording a 6-3 home win. Chris Miller and Lindsay Spicer played well to record a straight games maximum for a total of 92-48. Gary Hall and Gill Merrick put in the best visitors display and took a point with a 15-4 8-15 15-8 over P Plows and A Siderlanes.
Drax 'E' travelled to Terrys in mixed six and scored a comfortable 9-0 win. Janet Lumley and Richard Sumner put in an excellent display to record three straight wins for 90-54, including a close 11 and 13 over Ian Forman and Judy Wilson.
