Firefighters were today trying to establish the cause of a blaze at a North Yorkshire farm which claimed the lives of 160 pigs.
The animals died in a smoke-logged building at West Garth Farm, Pickhill Road, Sinderby, near Thirsk, next to another building which was well alight.
The fire was tackled by firefighters in three appliances, who used breathing equipment and hose reel jets.
The fire service was called out at about 6.40am and were damping down following the blaze two hours later.
