A proposed blueprint for a massive housing scheme in York is set to get the go-ahead from planners.
The draft development brief for the Germany Beck site, in Fulford, which is earmarked for hundreds of homes, is set to be approved when it goes before members of City of York Council's planning committee on Thursday.
The revised brief follows revisions and updates since the previous draft brief of 1996 and takes into account issues raised during consultation.
Once approved, the new brief will be used for consultation and then, with relevant changes, as a formal guidance for negotiating with developers, advancing a masterplan for the site in consultation with local residents and in assessing planning applications.
Two planning applications for the development of 600 homes on the site, which were made to Selby District Council in 1995, remain on hold.
In his report to the committee, development officer Derek Gauld says: "The revised brief aims to build on helpful comments received from local residents, developers and service agencies in order to provide an up-to-date document which will guide the future development of this area.
