A national organisation representing British soldiers who served in Palestine in the 1940s is set to be established at a war veterans' parade in Ryedale tomorrow.
The parade at Eden Camp War Museum, near Malton, is expected to attract up to 300 veterans who served in the Middle Eastern state during the Second World War and afterwards until the British Army pulled out in 1948.
Eden Camp spokesman Nick Hill said the veterans of Palestine had expressed a wish for a veterans' association to be established to give them a louder voice.
"This is the perfect opportunity for something like this to be set up because a lot of veterans will be in one place to discuss the issue," he said.
The veterans will discuss the setting up of a national organisation after a parade outside the cenotaph at Eden Camp where those who died in Palestine will be remembered.
