The huge "department store-style" house and home section planned for a new wing at York's designer shopping village will open on Thursday, November 9, it was confirmed today.
But BAA McArthurGlen is still refusing to disclose who the new tenants will be at this latest addition to the £64 million venture on the grounds that it wants all the legalities of the 19 new leases settled first.
The new open-plan 22,000 sq ft homeware section will have 12 concessions, with another seven spaces earmarked for exclusive brands in the east wing's separate mall.
But the Evening Press can reveal that one of the biggest concessions - 6,000 sq ft - will be reserved for Donnay International sportswear and shoes.
Donnay is part of the Sports Soccer group, which has about 80 outlets, including one at Monks Cross shopping complex on the northern outskirts of York.
Its manager, Gary Carter, has been recruiting up to eight full- time staff for the new venture, including a manager and deputy, plus up to 20 part-time sales staff.
Mr Carter said: "The stock at the two stores will be totally different."
The Donnay recruitment figures are among 250 vacancies which will need to be filled by retailers who will occupy the new wing, bringing the total number of people working at BAA McArthurGlen in York to nearly 1,000. The Evening Press has learned that other newcomers include Jane Heath Home, giftware and soft furnishings; Bed and Bath; Roman Originals, the womenswear group; Spiegelau, the German crystal distributor which is part of Nachtmann UK Ltd; Coloroll, which sells designer co-ordinated bedroom linen and wallpaper; and Cafe Nero, which is adding a second Italian coffee shop to its York portfolio - the other being in Davygate.
Representatives from all of these necessarily revealed themselves at yesterday's North Yorkshire Training and Enterprise Council's recruitment fair at the BAA McArthurGlen complex in Fulford.
Many of the new concessions have also taken space at McArthurGlen's latest designer outlet village in Livingstone, which opens on October 26.
Among the largest of these is Spiegelau, which supplies stores like Debenhams and the House of Fraser.
It has been recruiting six people to operate its new 1,100 sq ft outlet at York.
Coloroll has been recruiting a manager and up to five part-time staff.
Jane Heath Home, occupying 1,200 sq ft, has been seeking supervisors, three part-time sales staff and two weekend staff. Bed and Bath is seeking to recruit ten people.
Roman Originals wants two management staff and up to five sales staff; and Cafe Nero wants a manager, a supervisor and a number of coffee servers.
