Orienteeringis taking off at St Martin's Prep School at Nawton, near Helmsley, where teacher Mark Harrison has set up a course in the school grounds.
The course has 19 control points and pupils will learn map reading and compass using skills to negotiate them using specially drawn large-scale maps.
