Below-par York Acorn Under-16s still proved too strong for Milnrow Newhay Cobras to run out comfortable 60-8 home winners.
The young Blue and Golds fell behind to a try within 30 seconds of the kick-off.
However, gradually the strong running of man of the match and prop Jason Harper, second rower Tom Lyons, stand-off Andy Henson and centre Peter Fox, allied to the tackling of scrum-half Chris Spain, full-back Matthew Irving and substitute forward Dean Winspear, turned the game Acorn's way in emphatic fashion.
Fox led the way with four tries, Henson scored a brace and eight goals with other touch-downs coming from Mike Wildon, Irving, Andrew Scott, Harper and Dean Bell.
Acorn Under-8s were just pipped 11 tries to nine by a big Wetherby side.
Joint top performers for Acorn were Joel Johnson, who had a great all-round game, and Jack Anderson, who stood out in defence.
Their points came from tries by Callam Hannigan (3), Ryan Gallacher (2), Adam Hardwick, Joel Johnson, Ben Cowton and Jacob Bustfield.
Acorn Under-9s extended their unbeaten run with a power-packed display to overwhelm Hunslet Parkside by six tries and four conversions to one try and a conversion.
Acorn's man of the match once again was try-scorer supreme Ben Johnson who went in for a hat-trick.
Their other tries came from Josh Mortimer, Liam Wilkinson and Anthony Chilton, who all kicked a goal apiece, as did Johnson.
York Acorn Ladies fielded a team which included eight under-18s for their Eastern division clash at highly-rated Rochdale and performed creditably, despite losing 40-0.
In a brave defensive display, good performances came from the coaches' joint player of the match, winger Sarah Watson who tackled superbly, and Bev Langan for a fine all-round showing.
In attack they were well served by the tactical kicking of joint player of the match Lisa Miller and referee's player of the match Jenny Garwood.
Acorn Ladies are on the lookout for more players.
Anyone interested should attend training session at the club on Wednesdays or Fridays (6.45pm) or contact Gill Blackburn on 795874 or Kev Langan on 07930 280570 for details.
