City of York II went to the top of division two of the East Pennine section with a comfortable 4-1 away win at Brigg.
However, it was Brigg who set the early pace and took the lead with a goal that had both teams staring in appreciation.
City goalkeeper Simon Burnett, with two defenders in front of him, must have felt there was little danger as a Brigg raider forced his way into the 'D' only to be beaten by a perfectly placed lob.
City were soon level when Colin Moore pounced on a defender's mistake and rounded the Brigg goalkeeper before passing to Chris Wilson who equalised.
They gained the lead when John McRory's surging run paved the way for Moore to score but it was not until the second half that Moore created the third for Matt Couttie and they closed their account with a fine solo goal from Wilson.
City of York III continued their winning run with a 3-1 home success against Lincoln II.
They started smartly with a right wing raid leading to Ian Butler flicking them in front but a good solo effort put Lincoln back on level terms.
In the second period City stamped their authority on the contest and they regained the lead when Jason Bemrose netted from an acute angle and they wrapped up victory through Alex Fletcher.
There was a confidence boosting win for City of York IV as they won their local derby clash with York University 4-1.
They went a goal down after 20 minutes and it took an excellent move involving skipper Mike Couttie and newcomer Adam Jackson to set up an equaliser for Marco Dukic.
The second half saw City overwhelm the students with Mark Dransfield putting them ahead before goals from Adam Jackson and Jules Bellerby ensured victory.
Sheffield Bankers VIII proved tough opponents for City of York V and the south Yorkshire side won through 6-0.
Despite the scoreline City's youngsters performed very creditably, particularly goalkeeper Ashley Watson who capped his display with a save from a penalty flick.
A depleted City of York VI went down 3-1 at Hull YPI, but made a fight of the contest as Andy Potts hit their equaliser after going behind to an early goal.
However, having travelled with only ten players, City became weary in the second half and eventually fell to two goals from well worked short corners.
Despite an early shock City of York VII recovered to beat Wakefield IV 3-2.
Wakefield caught City cold with a goal in the opening couple of minutes, Alistair Blacklee put them back on level terms only for the College Grove side to take the lead again from a breakaway.
City levelled before half-time from a short corner strike by Tim Jolly and in the second half James Still hit their third.
On a grass surface City of York VIII notched an impressive 3-0 win over Rotherham VI.
City broke the ice when Ed Goodall found the net, but then had to resist a period of concerted pressure from Rotherham.
Only when Jeremy Rose put them two up did they look comfortable and they rounded off their success with a penalty flick from the experienced Clive Marshall.
Despite a fifth minute goal from Andy Dowdall, Tadcaster had to settle for a 1-1 draw from their clash with Boston Spa.
There was more joy for Tadcaster II as they hammered Sheffield 6-2.
They were three goals to the good inside half an hour as Paul Oxterby, Martin Hebden and Mick Burrell scored.
Hebden and Burrell were both on target again in the second half as Tadcaster cruised home with Ally Mackay adding to the tally.
