Anne Homa, the retiring York City Rowing Club women's captain, finished her term of office on a high note by winning a medal for the fastest women's sculler at the Ancholme Head of the River covering the 3000 metres course in a time of 12 minutes 32 seconds.
Paul Richardson, who has been out of serious training for three years because of a back injury, picked up a medal by winning Senior two sculls in 11.37.
Shoena Southern has been elected women's captain for the coming season.
Re-elected were Steve Noble (club captain) and Mick Homa (men's captain).
Crews are now training in the gym and on the water in preparation for the winter long distance races.
After rowing's great showing in the Olympics, York crews got first hand experience from their own Olympian last Sunday.
York's Allan Whitwell, who won a silver medal in the 1980 Moscow Olympics as a member of the British Men's eights team, gave a coaching session on the Ouse.
