The excellent goal-kicking of Carl Paterson brought Selby a 28-12 win over Hull in Yorkshire One.
The former York Wasps triallist banged over six penalties, a drop goal and a conversion as Selby were never in trouble against their Humberside rivals.
However, it was scrum half Toby Pemberton who gave them the best of starts.
The half-back scuttled over the line to hand them the lead and Paterson tagged on the extras before thumping over three penalties to give the visiting team a 16-0 half-time lead.
Paterson kept up the pressure in the second half to extend that lead by a further 12 points and it was only in the clsoing stages that Hull Made an impact when they grabbed tries through Leroy McKenzie, the former York Wasps left winger, and fly-half Mark Roberts.
