JOHN Mooring included a maximum 180 for 16 darts as Punch Bowl demolished Dick Turpin in York Maxiprint League division one.
A new-look Punch got their campaign off to an excellent start with a brilliant all round team performance. Martyn Turner (19), Rich Plummer (20) and a 180 from Graham Sanderson completed an outstanding 8-1 result. Escrick won 7-2 at Burton Stone, with Dave Pilmoor and Maurice Bell in good form, while Neil Long hit 180 for Mitre who were on the wrong end of a 7-2 scoreline at Britannia 'B', whose best player was John Miller.
Ken Hutchinson was Clifton's only success at Nags Head, whose Pete Edwards was in exceptional form. Paul Bartnett put Nags on the way to the 8-1 win. Paul Roberts also hit the high scores.
Britannia 'A' had a tough fight at Slipper, whose Russ Turpin and Pete Turnbull were in good form.
Ray and Rich Hill took the match and fine darts from Chris Thompson and Tony Cooper was enough to secure the aggregate point as Britannia ran out 5-4 winners.
In division two, Tap were cruising at 3-0 only for Huntington to square the match, a brilliant 116 finish coming from Dave Brigham. Alex Render was consistent with four tons and the Andy Parker and John Smith combination secured victory and the aggregate point.
Ebor were 7-2 winners at Leeman while Bishopthorpe recorded a 6-3 scoreline against Jackdaw, whose James Fitzpatrick included a maximum. Tony Raymond's 21 darter was best for Bishopthorpe.
Crown had no answer against Reindeer who recorded a 9-0 whitewash.
Yearsley Grove raced into a 5-1 lead with Bob Smith including a 21 darter. Royal Oak got back into the match but Cath Raffety and Gary Nicholson secured the victory.
Mal Muncaster was the top player for Crescent against Winning Post, while Woolpack began their season with an emphatic 7-2 win over Ship Inn. Brian Atkinson was in fine form.

Nick Scott threw a fine 21 darts for Osbaldwick but Trafalgar, well led by Kelvin Frankel, went on to win 7-2 and remain unbeaten in York Exhibition Hotel Group League division one.
Acorn had big finishes to handle from Flag's first two, Paul Calpin (133) then Dave Dobson (135 for 21). They manfully stuck to their task but were unbeaten on the last game by Dave Norris and Kevin Keane.
Nineteen darts from Barry Noble against Holgate gave Dringhouses an encouraging start and Pete Langan followed with 180 included, while Shepherds 'A' had a fine 15 darts to count from Kevin Walton in a 6-3 victory over Lighthorseman.
Tony Chapman added a 99 finish onto 21 darts by Phil Carter to seal a 6-3 victory for Shepherds 'B' at Green Tree 'B' who had 20 darts from Gary Wensley.
John Dykes (20) and Heath Scaife (19) edged Cygnet to a 5-4 victory against Poacher whose Ray McInally threw 180 for a splendid 17 darts and four tons from Gary Kynman.
Glyn Jeffreys and Andy King preserved New Earswick's unbeaten division two record while Dave Atkins starred as Groves got the points from Railway Institute 'A'.
Sun 'A' team's 6-3 win at Victoria Vaults included a 180 score from Doug Sutcliffe.
Green Tree 'B' bagged their first points with a Kev Pallister-Rich Beddows win at Sun 'B'.
Saddle lost their first points which were pulled out of the bag by Phil Taylor's good singles game and great scoring by new signing Paul Mahoney in the decider partnering Steve Schofield.
Slip shot to a 6-3 win at Swan which was started by a steady game from Kev Richmond.
